Apple-Beef Patties
Apple-Beef Patties turned out to be a wonderful surprise of a meal. With a few simple ingredients we found an old vintage recipe that must make a return to the modern table. Absolutely delicious, moist, juicy, and flavorful beef patties.
Full Recipe
1 pound ground beef
1 cup cooked long-grain rice
1 slightly beaten egg
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 5-ounce jar spiced apple rings (5 rings)
1/4 cup corn syrup
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons cornstarch
Combine beef, rice, egg, Worcestershire sauce, water and salt. Shape into 5 thick patties; place in shallow baking pan. Drain 5 apple rings, reserving 1/2 cup syrup. Press 1 ring onto each patty. Bake uncovered at 350° for 35 minutes. Combine reserved apple syrup, corn syrup, and lemon juice in saucepan. Stir 2 teaspoons cold water into cornstarch; add to syrup mixture. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly, spoon syrup mixture onto meat. Bake 5 minutes.
Makes 5 servings.
